My Digital Life Privacy Policy
Effective January 15, 2008
About My Digital Life
My Digital Life is an online service that allows our Members to collect, organize and share digital content about themselves and their lives. The My Digital Life Service is available at mydigitallife.com and mydl.com. From time to time My Digital Life may offer My Digital Life Services on other web sites.
The Content My Digital Life Members can collect, organize and share currently includes blogs, photos, calendar events, music play logs, phone call logs, text messages, email messages, contact list entries, and location. From time to time My Digital Life may expand the types of Content Members can collect, organize and share. My Digital Life provides tools that allow Members to control public access to and sharing of their Content in accordance with this policy. The system defaults all Members' Content to be private; i.e., not shared.
My Digital Life knows that you value your privacy. If you have any questions concerning this privacy policy, please email us at privacy@mydigitallife.com.
This policy explains how My Digital Life collects, uses and may in some cases disclose information collected through your use of My Digital Life. This policy is expressly incorporated into our Terms of Use.
User Information Collection and Use by My Digital Life
Personal Information. My Digital Life collects Member-submitted information such as name, email address, and phone number to authenticate users and to send notifications to those users relating to the My Digital Life Service. My Digital Life may also collect other data including but not limited to personal interests, gender, age, education and occupation in order to assist users in finding and communicating with each other, and to enable My Digital Life to deliver a more personalized service to each Member.
IP Address and Technical Information. My Digital Life logs non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from Members and visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the web site, track usage and improve the web site services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to Members. User IP addresses may be recorded for security and monitoring purposes.
User Profiles. User Profile information including Members' pictures and user chosen My Digital Life usernames are displayed to other Members to facilitate user interaction in the My Digital Life community. A Member's My Digital Life username is used to add the user to other Members' friends lists, and to enable other Members to share their Content with the user. When a Member subscribes to a My Digital Life Channel, their user name may be visible to other Members who also subscribe to that Channel. When a Member shares Content with other Members, the user's My Digital Life username will be visible to the other Members viewing the shared Content. Because other users may see a Member's username, Members may consider creating a username that is not personally identifiable in and of itself.
Email addresses. A Member's email address may be used for the purposes of inviting new friends to join My Digital Life. My Digital Life may also use a Member's email address to send updates, a newsletter or news regarding the My Digital Life Service.
Sharing Content with Other Members and the Public
The Content My Digital Life Members can collect, organize and share currently includes blogs, photos, calendar events, music play logs, phone call logs, text messages, email messages, contact list entries, and location information. From time to time My Digital Life may expand the types of Content Members can collect, organize and share. Members control the sharing of their Content. The system defaults all Members' Content to be private; i.e., not shared.
You may choose to share any piece of your Content present in the My Digital Life Service with the Members of one or more of your own Friends Lists and/or the public. You choose to share or stop sharing a piece of your Content by clicking on the "Change Sharing" link associated with the item.
Sharing and Channels. You may choose to share any piece of your own Content present in the My Digital Life Service in a My Digital Life Channel. You choose to share or stop sharing a piece of your Content in a Channel by clicking on the "Change Sharing" link associated with the item.
Please be aware that the visibility of an item shared in a Channel will often be different from that specified by sharing the same item with your own Friends Lists. An item shared in a Channel may be visible to a very large audience or the public. The rules for sharing of a Channel may change after you have posted your Content to the Channel.
You may also specify the sharing of your Content by establishing Rules. Rules can specify that specific Content types and/or Content with specific tags be shared with specific Friends Lists or Channels. Rules can be bounded by Start and Stop times. Once a Rule is established it remains in effect until you cancel it or its Stop time passes. You should be careful in establishing Rules and should periodically review the Rules you have in effect.
In addition to any other purposes set forth in this privacy policy, My Digital Life may process personal information collected through your use of the My Digital Life for the following purposes:
- Providing our products and services to users , including the display of customized Content and advertising and new My Digital Life Services;
- Auditing, research and analysis in order to maintain, protect and improve the My Digital Life Services;
- Ensuring the technical functioning of the My Digital Life web site and My Digital Life Services; and
- Developing new My Digital Life Services.

This information allows an ad network to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by My Digital Life and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.
Security
My Digital Life Member accounts are secured by Member-created passwords. My Digital Life takes precautions to ensure that Member account information is kept private. We use reasonable measures to protect Member information that is stored within our database, and we restrict access to Member information to those employees who need access to perform their job functions, such as our customer service personnel, service administrators and technical staff.
